Memorizing Tips
Performing Tips:
ANYBODY CAN READ, BUT ONLY THE BEST CAN "PERFORM"...

There's a difference in taking something you have written and "reading" it, verses, "performing", it. DO YOU SEE ANY OF YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS, COME OUT ON STAGE, AND "READ" THEIR SONGS???? NOPE! THEY "PERFORM" IT...

Make sure you are practicing these tips on a daily basis, once you have finalized your song,in order to have a magnificent performance.

Remember these 5 tips that will help you remember and help you practice while Memorizing your pieces.
Memorizing TIPS:
1. Practice in front of people you
TRUST
2.Use a Mirror
3. Use a camera (phone)
4. Re-write your lyrics
5. Practice
EVERYWHERE
The
most important
thing to do with a great poem,
is bringing it to life
, once you have memorized the lyrics.
You take your feeling,
emotions,
and put it into a
MEMORABLE
"PERFORMANCE"...
There 3 MAIN performing TIPS, you will master, you
will take your
thoughts and turn them into actions for the audience.
You will use these 3 tips while memorizing your poem to turn it into a great spoken word performance.

1. Eye Contact
2. Movement
3. Voice Projection & Clarity

Now you have learned about performing and memorizing, you will be responsible for using these tips and taking your
performance to another level!!!

Poetic Devices
Repetition
: Reiterating a word or phrase more than once.
Imagery:
Create a picture in readers mind: scent (smell), sight (see), and feeling (touch) imagery in your poem. (Examples: I saw the sun brightly, I smelled the pie, Being sad was not a good thing)
Rhyme
(Scheme)
Simile:
Comparing two things, WITH using “like and as”
Metaphor:
Comparing two things, WITHOUT using “like and as”
Mood/Tone:
The feeling of the writing in the reader (happy, sad, inspired)
Group vs. Individual
Spoken Word:
Is the "Performance of Poetry"
or storytelling.
Topic: The world, family, politics, community, funny, serious, emotional,
real life issues.
