The Vampire Diaries The Vampire Diaries is an American supernatural fantasy horror TV series. It is based on the book series "The Vampire Diaries" written by Lisa Jan (L.J) Smith. The series is based around a young girl named Elena Gilbert, who lost her parents in a car accident.
On the first day back at school, Elena meets the young handsome new student named Stefan Salvatore. Little does she know that Stefan has some secrets of his own ..... It is set in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. Elena has two best friends. Bonnie Bennet and Caroline Forbes. She also has a younger brother named Jeremy, and a complicated ex boyfriend Matt, who is not over her. Stefan lives with his uncle at the Salvatore boarding house. Stefan was turned into a vampire at the age of 17, in 1864 by his vampire girlfriend, Katherine. Katherine also turned his older brother Damon, who he constantly fights with, and blames for Katherine's "death". Nina Dobrev plays Elena Gilbert.
