Poverty in America
Transcript of Poverty in America
Two types of poverty: rural and urban
Government and media work together to rarely broadcast American poverty.
Minorities and social class
Jobs and education
My research methods were second analysis and literature review. After evaluating my sources literature I was trying to determine the cultural and ethical issues and variables that would cause the media to not broadcast poverty.
My discovery from my research shows that mainly the subject of poverty wasn’t broadcasted because it wasn’t important to those in the middle and higher classes of society. Another discovery is that those living in poverty have a small chance of ending the cycle based on lack of awareness from people higher up and the government implementing cutbacks providing them with less assistance.

Why won't the media broadcast poverty?
Identification, Theme & Research Question
My topic is about bringing awareness to the topic of poverty in America, and why there is little media coverage about the subject.
I choose this theme because poverty in America has been an ongoing problem for many generations. Poverty effects our economy in many ways however, no one is interested in finding out why it still exists in such high numbers today. Due to the fact that little is known about the topic, I felt that no one had much knowledge about the topic, which needed to be changed.
My research question is: Why is poverty in America still going on today, and what can we do to help?
