Landforms:
Most common animals found in Amazon:
Green Iguanas, Glass Frog, Sloth, Jesus lizard, Poison Dart Frog, Macaw and the Jaguar.
The rainforest produces 20% of the world oxygen and houses 50% of the know species in the world.
There are many different types of landforms throughout the Amazon Rainforest. They are mountains, valleys and flood plains. These are the main landforms in the Amazon. It can also have streams or rivers running through the wetlands.
A valley is usually in the shape of a U or V. Valley provide channels for rivers.Buttoms of valleys are generally flat and large and could become a flood plain.
Flood plains are large and flat areas they are usually near streams or river which makes them easier to flood. Flood plains are usually formed by winding streams are intertwined rivers.
Environmental issues in the amazon rainforest are deforestation, this is bad because it is lowering the oxygen production witch is 50% of the world. another one is poaching which is illegal hunting, this is bad because it lowers the population of an animal so they prey of that animal would die of hunger.
Tropical Rainforest
Tropical Rainforests are located in Asia, Africa,Central America and south America. The one we are doing is located in Brazil in South America which is the closest to the equator and has the largest plant and animal diversity.
The Rainforest is 5,500,000 km2 or (2,123,562 sq mi)
The Amazon rainforest is one of the biggest biodiversity in the world. It has the most species of animals some not even discovered yet.
Climate
The temperature rarely gets higher than 93 °F (34 °C) or drops below 68 °F (20 °C) the average humidity is between 77 and 88% rainfall is often more than 100 inches a year. There is hardly ever a dry season.
Vegetation
The Amazon has The most biodiversity in the world. Because the soil there is so rich. There are 40-100 species of trees in 1-hectare alone. A common tree is the Brazil-nut tree it is usually 40m
tall. Yellow flowers grow on it and turn into large fruits.
Soils
Unlike temperate and deciduous forests most tropical rainforest soils are poor in nutrients because years of weathering and rains have washed it out. Although soils have lost their mineral content and fertility rich rainforests still grow on them.
