Blackfish trailer!!
What is SeaWorld?
More about Tilikum
SeaWorld is like a zoo, but for aquatic or marine animals. But SeaWorld also has animals such as flamingos, parrots, Polar Bears, and Asian Small-Clawed Otters. Their main attractions are the dolphins and orcas.
Blackfish is a documentary about SeaWorld and its orcas, but more specifically, Tilikum. Tilikum is an orca that was taken from his family in the wild. He was taken to a place called 'SeaLand'. SeaLand went out of business in 1991, after Tilikum had killed someone. SeaWorld in Orlando was looking for killer whales, so when they herd Tilikum was available, they took him in. They never even told the trainers that Tilikum had a 'record' of killing people. The whole documentary is basically about SeaWold and its orcas. Blackfish is currently available on Netflix.

Tilly has killed 3 people: a trainer at SeaLand (closed soon after this attack), where he was first held in captivity. Dawn Brancheau; a trainer at SeaWorld, and a man trespassing SeaWorld at night.
Tilly performing
Tilly is 22.5 feet long, his dorsal fin is completely collapsed to his left side, and is the largest orca in captivity.
Tilikum, nicknamed Tilly, performs at SeaWorld Orlando, Flordia.
Reasons why orcas should not be kept in captivity + Orca facts
Life spans
Orcas for males, have an average of 60 to 70 years. For females, 80 to 100 years. When held in captivity their life spans are only around 30 to 50 years.
Collapsed Dorsal Fins
Most to all male orcas in captivity have a collapsed dorsal fin, You almost never see this happen in the wild. Collapsed dorsal fins are a sign of an injured or unhealthy orca.
The tanks that the orcas are held in at SeaWorld are considered the size of a 'bath tub' to an orca. These animals are used to swimming over 100 miles a day. To get the same amount of swimming distance, the orcas would have to swim around the main pool 1,900 times.
Recorded attacks?
There have never been any reports of a killer whale attack in the wild. Yet Tilikum, who is held in captivity, has killed 3 people.
If Tilly is so bad, the why does SeaWorld keep him?
For one, Tilikum is the main breeding orca at SeaWorld.
Tilly's 'family tree'
Tilikum has almost no survival skills, so SeaWorld can't release him into the wild. He is practically traumatized and most likely would not survive.
The big SPLASH!
Can't release
Tilikum is the largest one and use him at the end of the show. In the Killer Whale stadium, there is a 'Soak Zone' when Tilikum would splash you at the end of the show.
