or news about a variety of topics online. History An example of a Tweet Structural Components Funding:
-During its early stage, Twitter received $57 million from
venture capitalist companies such as Benchmark Capital
and Insight Venture Partners.

-Twitter attains revenue by allowing companies to purchase
"promoted tweets" in order to advertise products or services.
-Forecast projections of 2013 revenue are estimated to be

Founder, Twitter Impact on Electronic Media -Allows for instant access to breaking news and photographs. Tweet and photo by Janis Krums responding to the 2009 Hudson River plane crash. Impact on Electronic Media Cont. -Everyday citizens can capture and upload prominent content that electronic media could not attain. User Stephanie Gordon captured a space shuttle launch from her seat on an airplane. This image gave journalists a new perspective of shuttle launches. Impact on Electronic Media Cont. Expert journalists explaining the impact of Twitter on their industry. A Twitter profile- at the top is the identification box, highlighting the main info about the profile. The boxes on the left allow for users to write (tweet) to the profile, view the profile's followers and its photos. The pane in the center is where the profile user can tweet info and respond to other tweets from users.

Approximately 460,000 accounts are created every day. Twitter impacts users by allowing them to get a strangely satisfying glimpse of the daily routines of other users, in what technology reporter, Cliye Thompson, calls "ambient awareness."
Followers utilize "ambient awareness" to become more emotionally connected to their favorite celebrities or figures. -Journalists can get direct statements off of a Twitter profile rather than interviewing a person. Top 5 most followed profiles:

3. Britney Spears- 28,590,190 followers
4. Barack Obama- 23,616,269 followers
