Some even help us predict the weather!
Types of clouds include:
Cirrus (5000-13000 meters)
Cirrocumulus (5000-13000 meters)
Cirrostratus (5000-13000 meters)
Altocumulus (2000-7000 meters)
Altostratus (2000-7000 meters)
Stratus (surface-2000 meters)
Stratocumulus (surface-2000 meters)
Nimbostratus (surface-2000 meters)
Cumulus (surface-13000 meters)
Cumulonimbus (surface-13000 meters)
Lenticular
Kelvin-Hemholtz
Mammatus
(man made) Contrails (5000-13000 meters) How clouds are formed When water evaporates, it forms clouds in the sky,
When the clouds have too much water inside them, it produces precipitation. Words Cloud Names Come From Clouds Animation Low level clouds are over 2000 meters high and if the atmosphere around it is cold enough snow and hail will form.Types of low level clouds include Stratus, Cumulonimbus and Nimbostratus. Clouds Middle level clouds are between 2000 - 6000 meters and they can produce rain and ice crystals when the atmosphere is cold enough.Types of middle level clouds include Altocumulus and altostratus. Middle level clouds High Level Coluds High level clouds are above 6000 meters high and the atmosphere is so cold ice crystals form in massive amounts.Types of high level clouds include Cirrus, Cirrocumulus and Cirrostratus.
