WHERE DO DISEASES COME FROM?
Hi, Kennedy Hochstedler here reporting to you from the 123 news studio. Recently there has been a terrible outbreak of people getting sick around the world. My traveling team and I have traveled around the world to give you a closer look on what is occurring.
For several years infectious diseases have grown and are becoming more common in many countries around the world.
Studies show that about 1,500 people every hour die around the world from infectious diseases. Today that number still continues to grow.
Scientists from everywhere are telling 123 news that they believe these infectious diseases are coming from some pinpoint places.
Such as MERS (Mers Cov) comes from, and was originated in Malaysia
Scientists also talked to us about how Sub- Saharan Africa was a big killer in infectious diseases. Scientists aren't sure where in Sub-Saharan Africa these diseases developed although they do know that Yellow Fever, and Malaria were two diseases that were developed there.
Although these infectious diseases are coming from many different countries around the world, scientists are telling 123 news that animals as well, are playing a big role in why infectious diseases are spreading.
Doctor Underwood, a scientist from New Zealand, told 123 news quote, "infectious diseases don't only spread from animal to animal, but from animal to human."

HealthMap.com also shared with 123 news different animal alerts around the world. Africa is a big pinpoint place for animal alerts. Here is what we found.
The Northern part of Africa has 10 animal alerts.
The Eastern part has 7 animal alerts.
The Southern part of Africa has 29 animal alerts
An example of an animal carrying an infectious disease was the pig, it carried Swine Flu otherwise known as H1N1. This was a huge problem here in the United States.
Also Malaria is carried by mosquitoes. This infectious disease was a huge problem in Southern Africa.
Another old, and rare but deadly disease was Black Death, the rats carried this disease. However this disease is not common anymore.
Even our own United States has 68 animal alerts.

Although many people still have wonder and questions about where infectious diseases come from, Recia Barlow, a scientist from Brazil says not to worry, and that everyday they are still finding answers to this puzzling question.
