1. WHAT IS THE "CULTURE OF HONOR" THAT TAKES PLACE THROUGHOUT THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS ?
THE CULTURE OF HONOR THAT TAKES PLACE THROUGHOUT THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS IS KNOWN AS THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU.
IN THE SOUTHEASTERN CORNOR OF KENTUCKY, IN THE STRECH OF THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS ALSO KNOWN AS THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU, LIES A SMALL TOWN CALLED HARLAN. THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS WAS FULL OF BEARS AND MOUNTAIN LION AND ALSO RATTLE SNAKES. THE CULTURE OF HONOR MEANS THAT ITS A WORLD WHERE A MAN'S REPUTATION IS AT THE CENTER OF HIS LIVEIHOOD AND SELF-WORTH.
THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN MY PARENTS AND MY GRANDPARENTS IS THAT WE ALL ARE FROM THE SAME PLACE. WE MIGHT HAVE SOME DIFFERENCE, BUT WERE ALL THE SAME, FROM THE SAME FAMILY. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SIMILARITIES ARE THAT WE ALL WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE SIMILARTIES ARE BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. WHAT YOU HAVE IN COMMON WITH THEN. WHAT HAS BEEN PAST DOWN TO YOU, THAT THEY HAD. ALSO WHAT YOU HAVE NOW THAT THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T HAVE IN THE PAST.
