The Six Stages of Cell Division

Second Stage: Mitosis
Mitosis is the second stage of the cell division cycle. During mitosis, one copy of the DNA is distributed into each of the two new daughter cells. Scientists divided mitosis into four parts: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. These stages allow the cell to undergo specific activities in order to divide into two cells during cvytokinesis. Mitosis is the stage in the cell division where the cell prepares to divide into two cells.

First Stage: Interphase
Interphase is the first part of the cell division cycle. A cell spends about 90% of its lifetime in this particular part of the cycle because the cell grows to its mature size, makes a copy of its DNA, and prepares to divide into two cells. Interphase is a very important part of the cycle because the cell basically prepares to divide into two cells. Interphase is the period before cell division occurs.

During the first part of interphase, the cell doubles its natural size and produces all of the structures needed to carry out its functions to keep it alive.

The second part of interphase is when the cell makes a copy of its DNA in its nucleus in a process called replication. Each daughter cell must have a complete set of DNA, so this stage is very important.

Seventh Stage: Cytokinesis
Prophase is the first stage in mitosis. Prophase is when the chromosomes condense and form into chromatids that have a rodlike appearance. Since the cell's DNA has been replicated or copied, each rod had doubled.Each doubled rod of condensed chromatin is called a chromatid. Each identical strand, or rod, of the chromosome is called a chromatid. The two rods are held together by a structure called a centromere.

What is cell division?
Cell division is the division of a cell into two daughter cells with the same genetic material also known as DNA. It is the regular sequence of growth and division that cells undergo in their life. There are six stages in which the cell prepares to divide; interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis. This process is known as..... CELL DIVISION!!!!!!!!!!!
The second stage of mitosis is known as metaphase. Metaphase is when the chromatids line up in the center of the cell and attach to the spindle fibers at its centromere which still holds the chromatids together. This is a very important stage for a cell because it is the stage before the cell starts to stretch and undergo the division of the cell.
Anaphase is the stage in which the centromeres split. The two chromatids separate from each other. One chromatid moves to one end of the cell and the other chromatid to the opposite side of the cell. The cell then becomes stretched out as the two ends pull apart.
Telophase begins when the chromosomes start to lose their rodlike appearance as the two ends stretch even more. A new nuclear membrane forms around the two regions of chromosomes.
Cytokinesis is the last stage in the cell division cycle. This is when the cell membrane pinches in around the middle of the cell. Eventually, the cell breaks into two cells. Each daughter cell will end up with the same number of identical chromosomes and the same DNA. Cytokinesis usually starts around the same time as telophase. At the end of cytokinesis, each cell enters interphase, and the cycle continues.
