Stage 3- NORMING Stage 4- PERFORMING Friends Season 10, Episode 18 Stage 5- ADJOURNING At the beginning of this film it is obvious that none of the men know each other and have to pretend to be comfortable with each other, so they are able to work as a team. When the plane crashes they all realize that they have to work together so they can make it out alive, by focusing on the leader (Otway's) knowledge and experience. As the movie continues we see conflict begin to rise as well as disagreements in decision making between the characters. Once they put aside all conflict the characters begin to bond and come together to form somewhat of a team. Characteristics of Forming

All differences are appreciated and accepted Transition to Performing As we can see in the Season 7 Promo, Derek Sheppard survived. The shooting also brought all of the attendants closer and much more appreciative of each other, this will ensure success in the stage of Performing seeing that the group identity is complete, the group morale is high and the group loyalty is intense in this stage. Three of the survivors, Jack, Kate, and Charlie, set out to find the plane’s cockpit. An injured pilot tells them that the plane had lost radio contact six hours after take off, turned back for Fiji, and hit turbulence. The plane was a thousand miles off course when it crashed. Jack, a surgeon from L.A., is seen to be the leader of the pack. He has many solutions to the challenges they face on the Island. Due to his medical background, he is able to assist the survivors with their injuries. One of the survivors, a former Iraqi Republican guard communications officer named Sayid, attempts to repair the transceiver from the plane. A few survivors take a hike into the mountains in an effort to get a signal, in process; they are attacked by a polar bear. When they reach their destination to turn on the transceiver, they learn that the signal is being blocked by a transmission of a woman’s voce speaking in French, which Shannon is able to decode. “ I’m alone now, on the island alone. Please someone come. The others are dead. It killed them. It killed them all” the message repeats with a count implying, according to Sayid estimations, that it has been replaying for over 16 years and 5 months. It accompanied pilot’s last words, the survivor’s hopes of rescue are dampened and in spite of the group trying to keep the discovery undercover, the news spears through the camp within the following days. This keeps the group in the storming stage. Many conflicts and mini alliances exist within the group structure, until the gain familiarity and trust amongst one other, they will stay in the storming stage. Not transitioning to the norming stage in-group dynamics Cake Boss, Season 1 Episode 6 Characteristics of Performing Through everything the group goes through, and the challenges they face, for example, Buddy's mother, each member can rely on each other to get the job done on time and done well.

- Buddy was willing to go against his own mother, the person in charge, in order to make his team/group a successful business.

- Everybody is open for ideas, and feeding off each others opinions.

- Group completed both tasks productively by staying on task and motivated towards their goal, while the group morale is high, individuals are laughing and the group is happy.

- All these cakes in which the team makes, have never been made before, which is why its key for each member to support each one other when coming up with ideas, which is what we see from this group. In this episode there is a conclusion of the show, all of the cast members says their goodbyes as they will be taking new paths in their lives, leading away from eachother. However there is a minor crisis throughout the episode, the chick and duck get trapped in the Foosball table and the characters must break open the table to get them out. The group is terminated as Chandler and Monica are moving away and big changes will occur for all characters. Characteristics of Adjourning A planned conclusion usually includes recognition for participation and achievement and an opportunity for members to say personal goodbyes-Concluding a group can create some apprehension- in effect, a minor crisis-The termination of the group is regressive movement from giving up control to giving up inclusion in the group-The most effective interventions in this stage are those that facilitate task termination and disengagement process.
