It is with utmost pleasure that I offer my recommendation and support for Miss Yongtai Jing in her application for a position in Chinese program in your school.

Yongtai Jing is a senior student in State University of New York at New Paltz’ Elementary Education Program. I became to know Yongtai almost four years ago when I began my Chinese language teaching career at New paltz. I have found Yongtai an extremely hardworking student. She is a native speaker of Chinese and has an excellent command of Chinese language, linguistics, and cultures. During her undergraduate studies at New Paltz, Yongtai has learned the theories and practices in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in particular. She has learned the methodological trends in teaching second/foreign languages, and both conventional and innovative teaching strategies. Yongtai is a disciplined learner and set high expectations for herself.

While studying at SUNY New Paltz, Yongtai has visited and observed many classes in kindergartens and elementary schools. Through these field work experiences, Yongtai has learned to integrate theory and practice. She also had the chance to work with American students individually as well as in groups. She is currently doing her student teaching in a New York City public school in the spring of 2013. Under the guidance of her cooperating teacher, Yongtai is making the best out of the experience. She has learned to prepare lessons, plan learning activities for both large classes as well as small groups, and more importantly, work with students of a diversified linguistic and cultural background. Furthermore, Yongtai has experience teaching kindergarten to 5th grade Chinese classes in Mid Hudson Chinese Language Center in the past few years. She works extremely hard, and is always well prepared, has a good rapport with the students and enjoys an excellent working relationship with her colleagues. For her hard work and excellent performance, Yongtai has received very positive feedback and evaluation from her cooperating teacher, supervisor, colleagues, parents and her students as well.

On a personal note, Yongtai is pleasant, friendly, and responsible. As you can see, I think very highly of Yongtai Jing and I recommend her to you with no reservation.

I am writing this letter to recommend Ms. Yongtai Jing for a teaching position. Ms. Jing served as a student teacher in the fifth grade at PS 64 for eight weeks. She was part of a two-teacher team with 25 students; 12 of whom have learning disabilities. This experience provided Ms. Jing with constant practice in differentiating instruction.
Ms. Jing had a positive experience in my classroom. She has a strong background in mathematics and planned rigorous standards based math lessons. Throughout the course of the eight weeks, she assisted a core group of students who were struggling with certain math concepts.  She assessed them daily and decided what additional strategies she would have to teach them in order to meet the needs of those students. 
Additionally, Ms. Jing contributed to the planning and teaching of a thematic unit on the United States. The series of lessons she planned incorporated reading, writing, math and technology. The students were thoroughly engaged. 
I believe Ms. Jing has the potential to become an very effective teacher with proper mentoring and professional development..
