strenuous exercise History Florida Gator researchers
electrolytes carbohydrates How it Works Rapid fluid absorption is very
important during strenuous
exercises Assures Rapid Rehydration bibliography Summary in 1965 Medical researcher Robert Cade invented Gatorade to slow down heart rate after the strenuous workouts at Florida University Who Founded Gatorade 6% of carbohydrate and salt is crucial for rapid fluid absorption When the carbohydrate level gets higher than 7% absorpition is slowed which can make sports drinks bad for your body According to Gatorade, the sodium in their drink helps maintain body fluids unlike other fluids such as water and caffeinated beverages. Gatorade also encourages people to drink more fluids so they will not become dehydrated. Carbohydrates Result in
Working Muscles The carbohydrates found in Gatorade as sugars are:
Glucose and Glucose-Frutose Carbohydrate consumtion=harder and longer practices no problem Gatorade encourages
you to drink more to fully
hydrate yourself Salt enhances flavor and balances with the citric acid to maintain a proper pH level when we drink Gatorade Small amount of
people to drink
past that point until thirst
quench is satified More on encouraging
drink more Importance Today If we did not have Gatorade
today after strenuous workouts
many people would be suffering
of dehydration Overall, after studies we have
done, we have concluded that
Gatorade is better for long, strenuous
workouts while water is
better for short
practices This graph shows the amount of
sodium, calcium, potassium, and magnesium
in Gatorade, Powerade, and tap water

Ethical Value Although Gatorade is good to have for long exercises, it is criticized for its high concentration of sugar, which can lead to tooth decay and obesity. You can avoid this by using it in moderation, and by using it for exercises longer than 1 hour.
