A Culture Comparison America Vs. Spain
Spain Culture
Non material
The official language is Spanish, also called Castilian. Galician is spoken in the region of Galician and Basque. Catalan is spoken in Catalonia and the Basque country. Other minority languages including Aragonese and Asturian are not officially recongnised.
One of which is dancing, specifically the Flamenco Dance.Another cultural value in Spain is Sports. For example, Soccer. Another cultural value in Spain is Bullfighting. Bullfighting is very traditional in Spain and also very popular.Spain also has a lot of food to offer its citizens and visitors.
Spain is a christian country where some 77% of the population claims to belong to the catholic church and less than 1% protestant.
Eye contact:
In Spain its may mean that someone is interested in you romantically.
Offensive Signals :
Your wife is a "W****".
Crossing legs:
it is considered normal for men, but it is not normal or unfeminine for women to cross their legs.
Greetings:Never touch, hug or back slap a Spaniard you do not know well, unless a friendly Spaniard touches you first. ■Shake hands with everyone present--men, women and children--at a business or social meeting. Shake hands again when leaving.

■Appearance is extremely important to Spaniards. They dress elegantly, even for casual occasions. Avoid bright colors.
Shoes are the most important element of dress. Shabby looking shoes can ruin a very nice outfit.
Non material
Dogs are thought of as pets here in America it is our norm.
The way we are expected to behave in church differs from the way we are expected to behave at a party, which also differs from the way we should behave in a classroom.

In American culture, people wear a metal band on the ring finger of the left hand to show that they are married.
Americans believe in freedom of speech, and they believe they should be able to say whatever they want without fear of reprisal from the government. Many Americans value freedom as the right of all people and believe that people should be left to pursue their lives the way they want with minimal interference from the government.
Values: Automobile ownership
Automobile ownership clearly illustrates the American value of material acquisition. Americans love cars, and society is constructed to accommodate them. We have a system of interstate roadways, convenient gas stations, and many car dealerships.
America Culture
Floors are often tiled with ceramic tiles. Homes are built of concrete blocks. Homes in Spain are, generally, much smaller.

Technology is a vital aspect of material culture in today's United states. American students must learn to use computers to survive in college and business.
The fashion trend in the USA is mostly eclectic and in a way, informal too. The American culture is reflected in their clothing style.
Spain is fast becoming a leader in innovation and generating advanced solutions in the industries of aerospace, renewable energies, water treatment, rail, biotechnology, industrial machinery and civil engineering. The country is determined to deepen and intensify its productive specialization in industries that depend on technology and innovation.
In Spain it's more common to wear the wedding ring on the fourth finger of the right hand.

Folk Culture
The Jota dance and bullfighting folk originated as far as the century ago.
Music in Spain is varied in form and style, although for many citizens, it is synonymous to Flamenco.
Subculture is a group of people within a culture that differentiates themselves from the larger culture to which they belong. Some are worldwide phenomena, and others are exclusively home-grown. The hipsters and gamers, music- based are examples of subculture.
