The Television
Television was an important invention during 20th century science. The television was officially invented by Philo Farnsworth in 1927. He invented the elements necessary for the creation of television. When it first came out, the picture was black and white. Many aspects of the television have changed over the years. This includes the styles, color projected, and thickness of the television. We can now buy portable televisions that project the picture in color.
The Telephone
When was the last time you wrote a letter? A hundred years ago, letter-writing was the fastest and most reliable way to communicate with other people. Now its one of the slowest. Changes to communication technology began in the early 20th century, when the invention of the radio and telephone. The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1886. This invention did not become popular until 1910. This device made communication much faster and easier. Over the years, telephones have become portable, thinner, and easier to use.
Automobile
During the 20th century, if you wanted to get somewhere, you did not have a lot of options. Believe it or not, in the early 1900s, bicycles were all the rage. The invention of the automobile was a key in helping people travel to their destinations faster. It also made travel, trading, and connection between places faster and easier. A very popular car during the 20th century was the Model T. In 1908, the first Model T automobile is sold. The Model T was considered the first affordable automobile. Costs were lowered through Henry Ford's use of an assembly line production process, rather than individual craftsmanship.
The airplane was first completed successfully by Orville and Wilbur Wright, commonly known as the the Wright Brothers, in 1903. Without it, travel would be much slower. With airplanes, people can travel across the world in a couple hours instead of months or even years! The Wright Brothers paved the way for the first human trip to the moon in 1969.
Medicine
The 20th century saw remarkable advances in biology, medicine and health science. Advances in biology and genetics helped doctors develop better treatment for diseases and disorders. A very important medicine included the discovered of penicillin. The discovery of penicillin is attributed to scientist Alexander Fleming in 1928. If not for penicillin, many people could have died from preventable diseases.
The Top Advancement
There were numerous important advancements in 20th century science that are important. This includes the television, telephone, automobile, airplane, and medicine. I believe medicine is the most important advancement because it can help save the lives of many. Next, the airplane is the second most important because it is a faster way of traveling very long distances. Third, the automobile because it is key in transportation. Fourth, the television is important because its helps rely and communicate news at a faster speed. Lastly, the television because it also helps inform the public about news going on around the world and in the area.
