What do we do when they happen to us?
What are some
that something horrible is going to happen to yourself or someone else!
What are some
There are a lot of LITTLE DEALS and very few BIG DEALS
Someone that Hurts your body on purpose
...isn't playing by the rules
...sits in your spot
...says something unkind
...won't share in class
...won't take turns
...makes fun of your clothes
...controls where you sit or who you can be friends with
...making innapropriate faces and gestures
...cuts in front of you in line on purpose
...bumps or runs into you by accident
...says, "I'm telling!"
...is not following directions
...Ignores on purpose

Little Deals are considered "little" because
Little Deals do NOT make you feel worried or afraid!

Don't look- look away or turn your back
Don't Listen- Pretend your ears can't hear
Don't talk- Say no words and make no sounds
STRATEGY - 3 Steps to IGNORing
Strategy - SHow Respect by using a
Gentle- "Could you please stop tapping your pencil?"
Grouchy- "STOP banging your pencil on my desk. You are driving me CRAZY!!!!
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN
Strategy - - Were you right? SCOOTCH or WALK AWAY
Scootch-Move your body away from someone when you are siting on the floor.
Walk Away- Move your body away from someone when you are standing.
Strategy - Point your shoulder up to the sky and say, "OH WELL!"
Doing this will help your brain tell your heart that it really IS a LITTLE DEAL!

I'M In CHARGE OF ME!
YOUR only job is to make sure YOU are following the rules and directions.
DON'T DO IT BACK!!!!!
People who remember this understand that......
Bothering or hurting someone back never solves the problem. It usually makes things worse!
This strategy can keep you out of trouble!
The first time a little deal happens, your job is to stop and choose a strategy to handle it yourself
The second time a little deal happens with that same person, your job is to stop and choose another strategy to handle yourself.
The third time a little deal happens with that SAME person, your job is to stop and choose another strategy to handle yourself.
But, the 4th time a little deal happens with that SAME person, the little deal turns into a BIG DEAL. YOUR job is to tell a grown up or adult.

Little Deals are the little things that happen every single day that bother you or hurt your feelings!
Do not happen very often, but when they do, they are an EMERGENCY!
They are not dangerous
They do not hurt your body
You hear something really alarming
