The Positions in Basketball
There are 5 positions in basketball.
1. Point Guard 2. Shooting Guard 3. Small Forward 4. Power Forward 5. Center

What a Point Guard does
The Point Guard is arguably the most important position in the game. The Point Guard must completely understand what the coach's plan is, and is supposed to create scoring opportunities for their team, as well as him/herself. He/she is supposed to lead the players on the court (kind of like a coach playing).
What a Shooting Guard Does
A shooting guard is supposed to score points for their team, and bring the ball up the court. Shooting guards are good at long-range shooting, and are usually taller than point guards. They should pass well and be good ball handlers. The team relies on the shooting guard to score most goals.
What a Small Forward does
The Small Forward's main job is to score points, defend, and rebound missed shots. Small forwards are about 6'6" to 6'9" in height, and are very speedy, which makes them a force when they defend.
What a Power Forward does
What is FIBA?
DOGE
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIBA
Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball
,
or the International Basketball Federation, is a society of national organizations in basketball. FIBA was created on June 18, 1932, and now, a total of 215 country organizations are members. The current president of FIBA is the one and only
Patrick Baumann.

A FIBA tournament for men is held every for years. The champion team gets the

Naismith Trophy.
A Power Forward attacks with their back turned towards the net, and when in defense, they are under the basket, to get rebounds, while playing man-to-man defense with the opposing team's power forward. Power Forwards are very well-known for their mid-to-long range jump shot. Power Forwards are usually 6'6", and can be up to 7' tall.
What a Center does
A Center is very tall, 6'9" and above. Usually, they are the tallest person on the team. They are massive and very strong. A Center's job is to use their size and height to score and defend close up goals. Because of their height, they are usually the ones that are selected to take jump balls.
The Basic Rules of basketball.
SCORING
Someone scores by putting the ball into the basket. If you score from outside the 3-point line, the shot is counted as 3 points. If not, it is counted as 2 points. If a shooting foul is commited, then the person that was fouled gets 2 free throws. Each shot scored is worth 1 point. The team with the most points wins.

Basketball Net
Violations
Copyright: http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fc/baskBasi/basiRule.asp
A violation is when someone breaks one of the rules of basketball. If this happens, the ball is given to the opposing team.
One of the violations is walking more than 2 steps with the ball. This is considered
Traveling
.
Looks like I did nothing, right?
You're right!

Another violation is when you stop dribbling the ball, and then you start dribbling again. This is called
Double Dribble
.
Another way a violation can happen is when you hand is touching the ball, you bring it under the ball. This is Carry. When in contact with the ball, your hand must stay on top of the basketball.
Number of players
A basketball team can have any amount of players, but if you are playing competitively, there are 5 players on a team. The tallest player would play center, the medium-sized players would play as forwards, while the shortest ones will play as defensemen.

Rules, Positions, and what FIBA is
Early Basketball
Basketball was invented in Springfield, Massachusetts in December 1891 by PE teacher Dr. James Naismith.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_basketball
Back then, basketball had two baskets and a ball. Every game was 30 minutes, so 2 15-minute periods, with 5 minutes intermission. Every time someone scored, the game was paused, and the janitor of the school grabbed a ladder, and went to get the ball out of the basketball. After, they decided the botton of the baskets were to be removed. And they did get removed.
