Examples of a good and bad argumentative essay
Transcript of Examples of a good and bad argumentative essay
Year Round Schools
Year-round schools can improve on students academic skills. Drawing from evidence, during the course o summer break most students neglect to steadily remind themselves, as in school, of things they have learned. Even though some may say summer break is a "break from education" and give students a chance to relax education should never be on hold, especially since it controls their futures. Also year-round school calendars provide sectional frequent breaks throughout the year giving short breaks for the students. Year-round school calendars are just like summer break, instead of missing long periods of time they allow small breaks to reinforce learning.

Year Round Schools
Do you like to go to school? What about being able to enjoy summer break? Well it's not fair people are trying to take this away from us. Summer breaks give us kids a chance to have fun with our friends. I like the calender the way it is. Summer break is the best part of the year, not being trapped in a classroom in the heat.

Examples of a good and bad Argumentative Essay
Why this is a bad example......
Even thought this intro includes full sentences and a good opinion an argumentative essay is all objective. This intro also includes emotional appeals. Also its only supporting the benifits without providing why it is bad.
What is summer break? A chance to hang with friends and go out to enjoy the hot weather. Even though it gives students a chance to relax in the sun, it's not a good idea for students. Over summer break, records have shown that children often forget what they have learned over the course of the year. Year-round school calendars will improve the knowledge and education of students, even if it takes away few hot days.
Why this is a good example....
This intro includes all objective statements and appeals to the minds of those who both agree and disagree with the topic. It also includes relative facts.
Having a year round school calendar doesn't provide any benefits. However, it's not the only solution to students loosing memory of past lesson's. Adding school days will only make a child's life more boring. However, homeschooling can provide learning for student's while they enjoy the hot weather. So year-round school calendars wont help anyone really since there are other options.
Why this is a bad example.....
This body paragraph has no use of support or evidence. The claim is being overshadowed by opinions not facts and the structure of sentences are very confusing. Does the author want people to not agree with homeschooling or apply to homeschooling programs?
Why this is a good example...
This body paragraph provides a full structure that includes facts and and one solid reason why people should agree with his/her statement. It also includes a counterargument in which is matched up with an exact reason.
