Classroom Procedures ¡Bienvenidos a la
clase de español! Entrance Make sure you have all necessary materials for the class Enter the classroom quietly Go to your assigned seat--if you are not in your seat when the bell rings, you will be tardy! Right after the bell rings... Immediately start the bellwork that will be displayed on the smartboard

Do the bell work in your journal (composition notebook)

When you finish, wait quietly for the next direction You should have a Spanish journal that will be kept in the classroom Title Date Use pen or pencil to write in your journal Be sure to put the title and the date of the entry Write legibly and keep the journal organized Your journal will be collected and checked from time to time If you are absent, you still need to make up the journal entry--they will be posted on the class website every week. If you take the journal from class, DO NOT LOSE IT! Each journal entry will be graded using the following system:

5 points 4 points 2-3 points Keeping your journal During Instruction Pay attention When a student is speaking, we will all listen When the teacher is talking, there will be no other talking Ask permission to speak by raising your hand Ask questions related to the topic--other questions that are not related to the subject can be asked after instruction If you do not understand, please tell me! Participate fully in class activities Have Fun! I love teaching Spanish! It’s a lot of fun for me, and hopefully learning it will be just as fun for you. I will do my best to make class fun, but I can only do so much, the attitude and willingness you bring to class is the biggest factor in how enjoyable the class will be for all of us. Binders Your binder is very important to this class

You will need 7 dividers/tabs for the binder

Important class handouts
Class notes
Homework/in-class work
Dialogues and projects Your binder will be collected and given a quarterly grade

Dismissal Clean your work area
Make sure desks are returned to their spots
Wait for the teacher to dismiss you--the bell does not dismiss you. When you are absent... Participation Get the absent packet with your name on it from the board If notes were taken, you can access them from the school website (if electronic) or get them from a friend If you missed a test/quiz, you will need to arrange a time with Ms. Coles and get a pass to come take the test/quiz You will not be able to make up work if you have an unexcused absence--you will receive a 0 for those assignments You have ONE day to make up absent work (if you were absent on Monday, you will pick up the assignment on Wednesday and it will be due on Friday. If the absence is due to a school event, homework should be turned in before the absence (before school that day--do not come during any class).If the work is not turned it, you will receive a late grade for it. You must arrange a time and get a pass to make up a test/quiz. You will receive two points daily for participation Tardy

Sleeping/head down
Unexcused absence
Working on another class' work Late work Any assignment not turned in when collected may be turned in up to one day late for HALF CREDIT of the received score Turn the latework into the appropriate tray for your class period Class Rules and Consequences Rules 1. Always be respectful.

You must have your passport with you and signed

You will need to give me your cell phone when using the restroom and it will be returned to you as soon as you come back

I probably will not allow you to use the restroom during the first 20 minutes of a class or the last 10 minutes of a class

If it is an EMERGENCY, you do not have to ask for permission--you may leave immediately

Do not interrupt a lesson to use the restroom unless it is an emergency
