Regulation

What is self regulation?
GREEN ZONE
YELLOW ZONE
Red Zone
THE LEARNING ZONE!
The ability to focus your attention,
control your emotions and manage
your thinking, behavior and feelings.
When we are at school our brains and bodies need to be in the GREEN ZONE!

Triggers pull you away from the right Zone. Tools help get you back.
We can use tools to help get our brains and bodies feeling "just right!"
The 4 Zones are:

BLUE
GREEN
YELLOW
RED
We are expected to be in the GREEN ZONE while we are learning. It is when our brains and bodies are relaxed, calm and focused!
When we are at school, the RED ZONE is never expected! We need to keep ourselves and others safe!
This video contains several clips from the movie "Inside Out" to show the variety of emotions we all feel throughout our day.
The YELLOW zone is our CAUTION zone. This means we are starting to have emotions that can make others around us uncomfortable. Some of these emotions are getting upset or frustrated, acting silly, being grumpy, getting jealous, being too excited.
Choosing “ Zone Tools”
from your toolkit

Did you know there are ways that we can get back into the green zone?

This year at Jarvis, each classroom will be receiving a
"Zones Toolbox" from Mrs. Domonkos.

Then Mrs. Domonkos and your teachers will teach a variety of lessons about the zones and you will get to experiment with a variety of tools to see which ones work for you (Tools vs Toys)

The Zone room "Jaguars Den" in Pod D
is also a great place to visit when your
classroom tools are not working.
There are 3 types of tools that we can use:
ALERTING
,
CALMING
and
THINKING

tools.
