Pollution

What is Pollution?
What causes pollution?
Pollution is caused by any use of natural resources at a rate higher than earth's capacity to do so.
Burning Fossil fuels, emissions from factories and manufacturing in industries, cars, etc.
Are there any solutions to stop pollution?
Increasing
Of course pollution has been increasing , and will never decrease until some action is taken by human beings.
How would the world look like if pollution wasn't addressed?
There are solutions to stop pollution. For example governments have introduced us to wind energy, solar energy, and renewable energy to minimize burning of fossil fuels.
More types of pollutions!
California Most Polluted Places
How does pollution affect the planet?
How does pollution affect our lives?
Types of Pollution
Water Pollution:
the contamination of water bodies.(lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, and groundwater.) Occurs when water isn't cleaned often and becomes polluted.
Air Pollution:
Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, dust, fumes or odor in harmful amounts.
Thermal Pollution:
a rise in the temperature of rivers or lakes that is injurious to water-dwelling life and is caused by the disposal of heated industrial waste water or water from the cooling towers of nuclear power plants.
Land Pollution:
the destruction of the earth's land surfaces, often directly or

What can you do to stop this problem?
How much worse is it?
Now
In a few decades
Recycle and re-use things. This will minimize producing new things.
You can also conserve energy. For example you can turn off lights, computers, and electric appliances when not in use.
Pollution just keeps on increasing more and more.
And now, of course it is much worse than it was before because of more cars, more factories, trees being cut down, and more people
Why is it important to stop pollution?
It is important to stop pollution because it can damage our natural environment. For example air pollution can damage trees, crops, lakes and even animals.
Affects our ecosystem
Water
and
Air
pollution affects us the most
Water Pollution affects us because we need to drink water.
Different ways to stop pollution
Now Air Pollution is way more important because without air well we wouldn't be alive.
Pollution contaminates Earth's environment which just doesn't harm Earth itself but we who live on it.
Soil Pollution:

is when harmful objects, chemicals or substances come into the soil in which causes harm to other living things and destroys soil.
Drive Wise - use and energy conserving grade motor oil.
Buy smart- choose products that have less packaging and are reusable.
At home- connect your outdoor lights to to a timer or use solar lighting.
Facts
China has the highest rate of pollution
Pollution is one of the biggest global killers.
Over one million seabirds are killed by pollution every year
Noise Pollution:
harmful or annoying levels of noise, as from airplanes, industry, factories
Whittier, California
Marina, California
Negative effects of Pollution

Pollution can cause death and diseases to many humans

Ex. asthma attacks and cancer.
Pollution can harm other types of life like plants and animals
What causes these effects ?
Natural and human actions cause these negative affects.
Ex. forest fires, volcanic explosions
How does it hurt our environment?

Pollution is hurting our environment by killing humans, animals, and plant.
Facts about the effect of pollution
Around 1000 children in India die each year due to polluted water
Can cause lung cancer
Easy ways to help
Recycle
Turn off appliances when not using them.
What can you do?
Turn off all appliances when not needed.
Wash clothes with cold water instead of hot.
Get solar panels
Try not to drive everywhere, try to walk.
