Transcript of The Voyageurs

A voyageur was an adventurer who traveled by canoe from the area we know as Montreal to the interior to trade with the "indians" or aboriginal peoples for furs.
A voyageur was someone that moved animal furs by canoe while the fur trade was going on. Voyageurs traveled the length and width of Canada by a network of lakes and rivers by canoe.

The voyageurs paddle for 14-16 hours a day while singing songs to keep up the rhythm. The voyageurs paddle 50 strokes a minute.
Some of the voyageurs traveled great distances by canoe to explore and trade where Europeans hadn't discovered yet.
