Isra Ali was born on February 23 2001 at Scarborough General Hospital. She is the fourth and last child of her family and started kindergarten at the age of 4. Throughout her years in school she went through many adventures like being in Mrs.Starkman's class. She even went through one in grade 6 when she was assigned to make this presentation based on Italy. Her project needed to include many information such as the location, the economy and the physical characteristics about Italy. Now she has completed her presentation and is proud to be in Mrs.Maynard's class. About the Author Christmas Other than, Babbo Natele ( father of Christmas), and giving presents the main part of Christmas is the 12th day, when the three sage men gave baby Jesus there gifts. In Italy(also in other places around the world) many people believe that La Befana (Italian Santa Claus) leaves gifts in children stockings. Putting up lights and decorations is very common in Italy. Zampognari and pifferai players (bagpipe and flute players) are part of the Christmas traditions. The musicians often wear colourful clothing with sheepskin vests, long white stockings, and dark cloaks. Many of the players often travel through mountains in the Abruzzo region and play outside of churches and popular city squares. Many traditions are in Italy and there is too much of them to say. Carnevale Carnevale is also known as carnival or mardi gras. It is a huge winter festival celebrated with parades, entertainment, music, and parties. Pranks are very popular during the celebration. The saying "A Carnevale Ogni Sherzo Vale" means anything goes at carnival. New Year Midnight fireworks are usually displayed in the coming of the new year. The best fireworks are usually displayed in Naples. Dancing and outdoor shows are very popular in Italy. Many people host parties while serving Spaumante or Prosecco ( wine). Most parties last until sunrise to watch the sunrise of the newborn year. Throwing old things out of a window is a tradition to show that you accept the new year. In addition, Italians wear red underwears to "ring in" the new year. It also is worn to bring luck to you in the coming year.
