Mental and Emotional Health Anxiety Disorders Phobias An intense or exaggerated fear of a specific situation or object PTSD What are some other examples of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? - a condition in which real or imagined fears are difficult to control 4 main types:
- Phobias
- OCD
- PTSD
- Panic - Ablutophobia: fear of washing or bathing
- Frigophobia: fear of cold or cold things
- Gephyrophobia: fear of crossing bridges
- Trypanophobia: fear of injections (needles) OCD A need to perform behaviors over and over again, such as handwashing, counting, hoarding, or arranging possessions Withdrawal or depression after a distressing experience such as sexual abuse, a natural disaster, an accident, or witnessing violence Panic Pounding heart, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, nausea, fear of losing control Treating Panic Disorders
- Medication
- Therapy
- Avoid smoking and caffeine
- Exposure Therapy Personality Disorders a psychological condition that affects a person's ability to interact normally with others Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorder:
- Do not like being told what to do
- Become angry when they do not have control over a situation Borderline Personality Disorder
- Trouble in close relationships with others
- Tend to engage in high-risk behaviors
- Intense fear of abandonment Mood Disorders a disorder in which a person undergoes changes in mood that seem inappropriate or extreme Bipolar Disorder

Warning Signs of Depression - Irritability, anger, or anxiety
- Lack of energy; feeling tired all the time

- Physical problems, like stomachaches or headaches, that can't be explained
Schizophrenia a severe mental disorder in which people lose contact with reality Those with schizophrenia find it hard to:
- think clearly
- tell the difference between what is real and what is not real
- have normal emotional responses
- act normal in a social situation
