The city of Austin is the capital of Texas. Austin is full of music and bands. Austin is also considered the music capital of the world.
The Texas state bird is the Northern Mocking Bird and it lives in open areas and forest edges. The Northern mocking bird is the only mockingbird commonly found in North America.
The state of Texas is full of cacti. The state of Texas is mostly desert, making this a great location for cactus to grow.
The Texas state flower is the blue bonnet. The flower only grows in giant grassy areas and is mostly purple.
The Texas state gem is a topaz. The topaz is a blue gem found deep underground. Making it a very rare gem and hard to find.
The Indians who came to Texas were very smart. They learned to live off the land and learned how to survive in the Texas heat.

The state of Texas is named the Lone star state because it only has one star on there flag.
In March 1906, former Texas Governor James Stephen Hogg requested that a pecan tree be planted at the head of his grave rather than a traditional monument. People began to take special notice of pecan trees and in 1919 the Texas Legislature made the pecan the state tree.
There are many great jobs you can get in Texas. One of the most common jobs in Texas is a working for an oil factory.
On December 16, 1836, the First Texas Rail Road was made. The Texas Railroads were very important to Texas because they allowed people and supplies to move quickly from one place to another.
Snakes are very common in Texas because the hot weather. One of the most common snakes found in Texas is the rattle snake.
Dr Pepper was invented in Texas in 1885. Dr Pepper was invented 85 miles west of Waco, Texas. The orginal Dr. Pepper was made with pure cane sugar.
