British Colombia joined Canada in 1871 Reasons why British Colombia wanted to join Canada was because: Northwest Territory joined Canada in 1870 Alberta joined Canada in 1905 Reasons why Alberta joined Canada: Saskatchewan joined Canada in 1905 Reasons why Saskatchewan joined Canada:

-The economy has changed. Now its not only the fur trades, now there is farming,logging,mining and railway. Since they were getting more populated in Alberta they thought the citizens should have the same kind of government as the provinces in Canada.
-Alberta couldn't afford schools for their people, so if they joined Canada they could collect taxes and pay for their needs.
-The person who contributed was Sir William Mulock
-Mr.Mulock contributed by being a active participant in the negotiations that led Saskatchewan and Alberta into Canada Manitoba joined in 1870 Nunavut joined Canada in 1999 Reasons why Nunavut joined Canada:

-Canada has been making decisions without speaking with the Inuits. The Inuits want to start making their own decisions now and to make that happen, they would need a government so they joined Canada

-Canada has been taking the Inuits' resources without asking them first and now they joined Canada. Now they want their land back.
-The person who contributed to confederation for Nunavut was John Amagoalik
-John Amagoalik contributed by campaigning the creation of Nunavut. Ontario joined Canada in 1867 Reasons why Ontario joined Canada:

-In 1854 to 1864 before Ontario was called Ontario,
it was named the provinces of Canada. Provinces of Canada had problems with making important decisions because Canada East (Quebec) and Canada West (Ontario) couldn't negotiate.They came to a decision that if they created a country, they would create a provincial government for Ontario.The provincial government could make the important decisions

-The person who contributed confederation was Sir John A. Macdonald.

-The UK didn't want to fund Newfoundland anymore, and if they joined Canada, they would get more money.
-Canada promised Newfoundland if they joined them. Canada would help them build roads, and railroads.
-A person who contributed confederation for Newfoundland was Sir Frederic Bowker Terrington Carter.
-Mr.Carter was 1 of the 2 that attended the Quecbec conference, but he was unsuccessful to bring Newfoundland into Confederation. New Brunswick joined Canada in 1867 Reasons why New Brunswick joined Canada:

-People in New Brunswick thought their neighbor (United States) would want to expand their colony by going to New Brunswick, but to counter their strength the colonies in Canada then would balance it out.
-Settlers there thought Confederation would help the economy by having markets linked together by the international railway.
-A person who contributed in confederation for New Brunswick was Charles Fisher.
-Mr.Fisher contributed by being a spokesperson for confederation. Prince Edward Island joined Canada in 1873 Reasons why P.E.I joined Canada:
-Canada promised that they would buy the land off of the landlord, and later let the citizens buy their own land
-P.E.I has borrowed a lot of money to build their own railway and couldn't the debts, but Canada would help them pay it off.
-A person who contributed in confederation for P.E.I is Andrew Archibald Macdonald.
-Mr.Macdonald contributed by accepting confederation if P.E.I's economic showed some recovery. Nova Scotia joined Canada in 1867 Reasons why Nova Scotia joined Canada:
-Their government thought that joining in
Confederation would be good for Nova Scotia
-In order for the colonies to do well, they needed to become one and sell their good to each other.
-A person who contributed to confederation was Sir Adams George Archibald
-Mr.Archibald contributed by appearing in all 3 of the conferences. Yukon joined Canada in 1898 -British Colombia had to owe a lot of money, so they thought if they joined Confederation they would help pay it off
-The citizens of British Colombia wanted to elect their own provincial government, and if they joined Confederation they would have that opportunity
-People feared that the Americans would try to take over the colonies, and to prevent that from happening British Colombia joined Confederation to have more fire power Reasons why Yukon joined Canada: -The klondike gold rush in Yukon brought many Americans into the area. Canada thought the U.S
would use this to take over the area
-Government sent people to the area to tell them it is Canada owned and controlled Reasons why Northwest Territory joined Canada:

-Canada bought Rupert's Land and Northwestern Territory and renamed it Northwest Territory
-Northwest Territories also joined to be a part of the railway, which Canada offered.
-The person who contributed in NW Territory joining Canada was Sir Frederick William Alpin Gordon Haultain
-Mr.Haultain contributed by trying to convince Wilfred Laurier's government into making NW Territory a single province -The economy has changed. -Louis Riel contributed by being a part of the Metis provisional government. The Capital City of Canada The capital city of Canada is Ottawa. The first Prime Minister was Sir John A. MacDonald. The years he was prime minister was 1867-1873.
