Trapholt
Denmark’s only museum of modern art, crafts, design and furniture design. Trapholt has changing exhibitions featuring Danish design traditions and also has Denmark’s largest collection of Danish furniture design.
Koldinghus
A unique historical attraction with great experiences for anyone interested in history, architecture and design. The museum’s permanent exhibition on Danish silverware meets the highest international standards and is an excellent display of the long history of Denmark’s design traditions.
Christiansfeld
The well-preserved town of the Moravian Brethren is presumably the first town in Denmark built according to a town plan. The restored old town centre displays the unique architecture and cultural history of the town. It is a great example of the durability of strong design traditions.
Nicolai Art & Design
Nicolai Art & Design is a venture centred around professional arts, crafts and design. The house consists of two separate parts: exhibition rooms on the ground floor and House of Design on the top 3 floors where design businesses can rent office space.
Kulturforum Würth
In addition to its traditional focus areas, the industrial enterprise Würth has gathered a wide range of activities within arts and culture in Kulturforum Würth Kolding. Here the public can visit changing exhibitions of quality art throughout the year.
Kulturlogen
Youth house and creative workshop established to create a haven for young people wishing to foster their creativity. Cooperation with Kolding Municipality has ensured that the city’s graffiti artists can unfold their creative talents in public spaces.
Design Kindergarten ”Sanseslottet”
The decor of the building and the surroundings are untraditional and inspire to exiting new activities. The pedagogical focus is on creativity, experimentation and creation, and the kindergarten works with processes prioritizing cultural forms of expression.
Municipal primary and lower secondary schools
As part of Kolding’s design strategy, design is a compulsory subject in all municipal primary and lower secondary schools. Design and innovation prepare the students for the future, and the purpose is to educate creative, innovative, problem-solving students who can work together on ideas, processes and products.
Design Summer Camp
International Design Summer Camp for children and young people with talents and interests within design. During the one-week camp professional design teachers introduce the participants to design methods and processes.
Skamling Design og
Idrætsefterskole
Independent boarding school for lower secondary students. The school’s focus is on design and physical education. The design line gives the students the ability to carry out design processes from creative and problem-solving phases to results.
Hansenberg - Designia
The Designia department at Hansenberg offers vocational training within form, design and visual expressions in digital media. 160 students are currently attending NOMA Nordic Multimedia Academy which offers an Academy Profession degree in multimedia design.
IBC
IBC International Business College offers design as an elective subject to most of its students. In 2012 the Management Training Centre relocated to Innovationsfabrikken - a paint factory turned into state-of-the-art design and innovation facilities including a prototyping workshop.
IBA
IBA International Business Academy offers an Academy Profession degree in Entrepreneurship and Design. This degree focuses on design, innovation, global entrepreneurship and virtual enterprise. The course includes a 12-week company internship.
University of Southern Denmark
The University currently offers a Bachelor’s degree in Design Culture and Economy and a Master’s degree in Design Management in collaboration with Kolding School of Design. The Master’s degree is a proactive response to the business community’s demand for strategic and design-oriented management profiles who can take on the role as managers and innovators.
Kolding School of Design
Kolding School of Design is an independent institution which offers design on Bachelor and Master levels. The School currently has about 350 students on 6 different lines. The school is renowned for its innovative design educations and its international study environment.
DesignCamp
The DesignCamp is an annual, recurring event at Kolding School of Design. It joins Danish and international students, companies, designers, and researchers with an interest in design and in addressing global challenges and solving common issues based on a current theme.
Kolding Municipality
Kolding Municipality is continuously working on new design initiatives within all branches of its administration. Examples of initiatives using design processes are: The sustainability game, the policy for cultural strategy and a campaign to increase exercise and movement in the workplace.
New Vision for the
Municipality
Kolding Municipality is creating a new vision using design thinking – from anthropological mapping and creative workshops to experiments and scenario thinking. Under the headline “We Design Kolding”, 550 citizens of the municipality recently participated in a large workshop to advice the city council.
Outdoor Strategy
The Municipality’s Outdoor Strategy creates a framework for outdoor experiences in nature and open spaces and parks in the city. The strategy identifies and prioritizes areas with particular experience potential – for example experiences related to local culture or physical activity.
City Life Strategy
The Municipality’s City Life Strategy creates a framework for city life in Kolding. The strategy identifies and prioritizes areas with particular experience potential. Four levels of city life are addressed using design thinking: the physical, functional, relational and communicative level.
Design City Kolding
The philosophy behind this new vibrant area in Kolding is sustainability, new forms of cooperating in an interdisciplinary environment and innovation through design. Companies, institutions and organisations live and grow side by side with the residents in the area.
Business Kolding
Business Kolding works as the primary liaison between Kolding Municipality and businesses and business development within Kolding Municipality. Business Kolding contributes to a wide range of developments in commerce, industry, entrepreneurship and tourism.
House of Design
The municipality’s design entrepreneurship centre for creative entrepreneurs and design businesses. House of Design facilitates networking, business counselling and acts as a link between the design industry and the business community. Capacity: 30 businesses/people.
House of Innovation
The municipality’s centre for entrepreneurs and start-up companies. House of Innovation facilitates networking, courses and business counselling to start-up businesses and the business community in general. Capacity: 70 businesses/people.

A good detour
A collaboration project between Kolding Municipality, consultants, associated students from Kolding School of Design and Aarhus School of Architecture and other interested parties. The project rethinks a series of overlooked but very central and challenging areas in the centre of Kolding.
Familien cool
A collaboration project between publicly- and privately-held businesses and research institutions concerning street furniture for children and young people in Kolding. The projected was carried out as a full-scale design process including co-creation workshops with children, researchers and designers.
Underpasses and bridges
Kolding wishes to create state-of-the-art design experiences for citizens travelling between different parts of Kolding city. The new underpass between Design City Kolding and the new University Campus will be developed using a full-scale design process aspiring to create a design experience.

Design2innovate is a business development project by Kolding School of Design and The University of Southern Denmark. Design2innovate assists small and medium-sized businesses in using design as a tool for creating business development and growth.
The Cosmo
The Cosmo - International School of Southern Denmark is one of the leading English private schools in Denmark. The Cosmo values cultural diversity, academic excellence and mutual respect, all which contribute to the education of future citizens.
Nicolai Cultural Centre
An old, unused school complex converted into a new cultural centre. The centre consists of 5 buildings each with their own functional identity: Cinema & Café, Heritage, Children’s Culture, Art & Design and Music. The old school yard has changing decorations throughout the year.
Kolding Libraries
Kolding Libraries include all the libraries in the municipality, Kolding Library being the main library. Kolding Library won the Municipality’s architectural award in 2009. The local libraries involved the users in the design processes when rethinking their profiles. Kolding Library continuously redesigns its library spaces.
Lunderskov Efterskole
Independent boarding school for lower secondary students. “Cool performance” is the main theme, and the design line is for creative students with good ideas and unique expression. Lunderskov Efterskole cooperates with Kolding School of Design.
