Transcript of Industrial Revolution

The Birth of Industry
is an economic system where machines do work that was once performed by humans or people.

Industrialism made life easier for people. Everyone started inventing things so they called it the Industrial Revolution. This revolution made more money for people who invented things.

Before the Revolution most people lived on small farms or in villages. Merchants wanted to find ways to increase quality and quantity of their products.

Before the advent of the Industrial Revolution, most people resided in small, rural communities where their daily existences revolved around farming. Life for the average person was difficult, as incomes were meager, and malnourishment and disease were common. People produced the bulk of their own food, clothing, furniture and tools. Most manufacturing was done in homes or small, rural shops, using hand tools or simple machines.

An inventor named Samuel Morse developed the telegraph. It sent coded messages through wires.
The Industrial Revolution was big in Europe, it especially increased their status. This Revolution made Britain the most productive and richest country in the world.
To stay at the top of the food chain the Parliament passed laws. These laws restricted the flow of ides, machines, and the skilled workers.
These actions were not the best because inventors and entrepeneurs left the country and spread there ideas and knowledge on the Indusrial Revolution.

Then came the rail road. The rail road had a lot of improvements it was faster, cheaper, connected major cities all across Europe, changed the amount of time and money spent on the transport of goods to market. The only reason why factories developed was because machines became to large and expensive to fit in homes.
Corporation- a corporation raises money by selling shares or partial ownership.
A corporation makes money by selling or partial ownership in a company to investers.
An inventor named Alexander Graham bell developed the telephone in 1876 the telephone used tiny electrical wires to carry sound it also allowed people to speak to each other over long distances.
A scientist named Guillermo Marconi put together a wireless telegraph which was later developed into the radio
The knowledge of the Revolution spread through Europe an America.

It spread because people from Britain left and spread their knowledge about the Revolution in other places.
Britain led the way in the Industrial Revolution. It changed
because farmers started fencing off land to create large farms to grow large amounts of
crops which led to greater profits meaning
that farmers could invest in another businesses.

Thomas Edison developed the light bulb and it lead to the first power plants.
Orville and Wilbur Wright successfully tested the worlds first airplane
The reason why the population increased is because there was better food and you had better health. Plus there was more work for people.

Inventors make Advances Continued...
An important natural resource during the industrial revolution was iron. It was used to make machine parts for the new machines. In the later years of the Industrial Revolution, it was used to make steel which was stronger than iron by itself. Another natural resource that was greatly used was coal. It was burned to melt iron to turn into steel.

Henry Cort was an inventor in Britian. He invented a way to use coal to turn iron into pure iron or steel.

Henry Bessemer was an engineer. He invented the Bessemer process which involved oygen being airblown through molten iron to burn off the impurities and thus creates steel.
How did the Industrial
Revolution begin
The Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain in 1760 and ended in 1820. The Industrial Revolution created more work for people. It also helped the health and well being of the people that lived during the revolution.
What Caused the Industrial Revolution
What the Revolution did
The Revlution helped many people. It increased clothing, food, house products, etc. If the revoltuion hadn't started in Britain, life would have been harder and their would have been more manual labor for less supply of products.
When industry began, there were two factors that fuled economic growth in 1807. Transportation and new business.
Robert Fulton, an american inventor, developed a boat powered by a steam engine.
Edmund Cartwright greatly influenced the cloth part of the Industrial Revolution. He created a new powered loom. The machine would weave the thread into cloth as fast as it was produced.
Most of the machines that were made during the Industrial Revolution were either powered by water or steam. James Watt's invention was a major part of the Industrial Revolution. He was a Scottish mathematition who invented the steam engine in 1778. This machine was a more efficient way to power new machines. It allowed machines to operate by themselves.

Another inventor was Richard Arkwright. He helped build the Spinning Jenny that was invented by James Hargreaves.
There were many inventors that helped with the advances during the Industrial Revolution. One inventor was James Hargreave. He was a textile weaver who invented a machine called the Spinning Jenny. His machine was powered by water.
