Essential Questions
Word Study is an active, learner center and conceptual approach to instruction in phonics, spelling and vocabulary.
What is Word Study?
based on a predictable continuum of spelling development
synchronous with reading and writing
based on decades of research
a differentiated approach to teaching phonics, vocabulary and spelling
primarily based on the categorization of words that encourages students to develop generalizations about how words "do" and "do not" work.
