Transcript of Religion and economy in medieval europe and japan.

Devolpment of Japan. Religion in Japan was not a very important part of their daily lives.Most of the wars fought there were over wealth or power, and had nothing to do with religion.Japanese hung onto their shinto religion when buddhism was forced upon them,until Zen buddhism was discovered,it was a peaceful practise that focused on mostly enlightment.It heavily influenced japans culture and art. After the mongul invasion Japan began rejecting anything that had to do with china, even though china had the largest influence on Japans development.After this japan became isolated, and japanese became less dependent on china for their production.Afterwards, many people converted into christianity to increase trade.The governent became keen on land reclamation projects and they limited taxes of people who supported it. Semi-independedent states were made, and feudilism in Japan developed. Introduction. Economy and religion play a big role when it comes to the development of medieval Europe and japan.Although there are many differences between medieval Japan and Europe there are also some fundamental similarities too.Some people look at the Medieval periods of Japan and Europe and argue that the similarities were inevitable.Both economy and religion came hand in hand because one usually influenced the other. they both greatly influenced the growth of Europe and japan because religion and economy were important and the key to a part of their success. Devolpment of Medival Europe. In medival europe religion and economics were interwined.in this time war was mainly caused because of religion.The wars were usuall caused over jeuruslm, 'the holy land'. they brought more power to the church, increased trade and coin currency.which led to the urbanization of medival europe.At that time, the pope had more power than the king, and the church was not needed to pay taxes.The idea of banks and loans were formed with new coin currency. alot of different things contributed to the new hierchy and the development of middle class.this shaped modern europe and paved the way for commercial and industrial revoloution. Fatima Osman. Religion and economy in Medieval Europe and Japan. Feudalism in Japan Feudalism in japan and in europe were similiar. the top three parts of the pyramid were basically the same. but lower class was a little different.Japan put the status of peasents higher than merchants, because they believed peasents were higher because they produced their own food and goods, while merchants just moved it. Topography map and trade of Japan. This explains the trade in japan, it mentions china,korea and south east asia, which are close to japan in the map.there were a high amount of trade, and japan began to flourish.then the tension and war began and trade ceased. and japan eventually went into isolation. Comparison of Medival Japan and Europe There were many different similarities and many differences between the medival Japan and Europe.There were different kinds of religions shown in Japan, while in europe the main religion that was expressed was christianity, and religion played more of a dominant role in europe.Economy played more of a huge success with both places.and once there was an increase of trade both places flourished.The feudal system was both based on lords who gave vassals land, and recieved goods and services in exchange.With the feudal system the first few were quite the same, and the last had a little differences.war ofcourse had impacted both places, while europe fought over religion japan fought over mainly wealth and power.which seemed to slow their growth. both places chose actions that would affect their countries future.
Feudalism in Europe. Feudalism in Europe changed after the crusades when trade became more important part of life.europe became more urbanized and focused on trade, causing many merchants to appear.this created a whole block in the social hierchy: the middle class, mainly made up of merchants and artistans, the middle class offered peasents many more oppurtunites and a higher chance to move up the pyramid of feudalism. trade routes during the late middle ages. Trade routes are on the map mostly because of the crusades. the wars re-opened all the pilgrimage roots, which boosted the trade and economy in europe. The magna carta. The magna carta;an official document that was signed by the king giving specific rights to the people in europe. its similiar to the bill of rights,and the constitution. and the magna carta gave more power to the people and formally listed their rights. it introduced the first parliment.and could have been thought of the beggining of democracy. Conclusion;
There is alot more difference and similiarites between the two places, but when it comes down to it, there are to main similirites;religion and economy. these two things influenced the countries culture, warfare, actions and outcomes of both places.and it helped to shape them into what europe and japan is today.
