Isolator is a mechanical switching device that provides a specific isolating distance under open condition
Earthing switch is a mechanical device that allows earthing of parts in a circuit
This switch combines the function of a isolator & earthing switch. It is designed for no load operation
An electrical conductor, which is maintained at a specific voltage, provides a common connection between several circuits in a system
The operation of opening and closing of current carrying contacts and associated arc interruption take place in a vacuum interrupter in the circuit breaker.
A circuit breaker is a mechanical switching device which makes, carries and breaks current in a circuit.
To reduce the current at the primary circuit by a ratio or proportion to a smaller current for the ammeter and protective relays
In the event of an internal arc fault, large amount of energy is released in the form of heat causing an increase of internal pressure. This may burst the enclosure if the rupture disc does not relieve the internal pressure before it exceeds the design limit of the compartment.
Any discharges resulting from internal arc faults are then directed away from locations where personnel may be present. This rupture disc provides safety protection for personnel and equipment from injury or damage in the event of arcing faults within the switchgear housing.
To observe if the cable is energised or de-energised
An earth conductor with which the 3 position switch makes contact to earth parts of the circuit
To observe the gas density in the switchgear
To terminate control wires, creating an interface between the switchgear and marshalling box

All live parts are insulated in Air (Except contacts in the vacuum bottle)
The circuit breaker is withdrawable
The busbar and cable end needs to be physically isolated by racking out the circuit breaker truck
All live parts are insulated in SF6 Gas (Except contacts in the vacuum bottle)
The circuit breaker is NOT withdrawable
The busbar and cable end can be isolated through a switch mechanism
