Famous Tenor Sax Players
History
The saxophone was created by Adolphe Sax in 1840, who was a Belgian musician
It was patented (a right of owning/inventing the creation) on June 24th 1846
His original key-work was very hard to play, so saxophonists later on developed & added new keys
It is the medium sized sax in the family
Changes in the key-work
Before they were only usually used in military bands, but now are used in many jazz/school/marching bands
Modern day tenor saxophone is in the key of Bb

Underneath all keys are 'pads', to prevent damage
Octave keys control higher notes
Left thumb controls octave key
Made from brass; can be plated in nickel, silver or even gold
