Yeats:
Playwriter.

Even though he did an abundant amount of poetry he also would put much energy into his play writing.

He worked with play writer Lady Gregory to develop more works for the irish stage. In 1902 they has a production of Cathleen Ni Houlihan. After that many other works were made :On Baile's Strand, Deirdre and At the Hawk's Well.
Yeats continued to write plays until his death in 1939.
Famous works included: The Wild Swans at Coole (1917), The Tower (1928) and many others.
Before Reading
A. I predict that this poem might talk about Jesus returning to earth again. I say this because some people refer to Jesus returning as a second coming.

B. I cannot connect any feelings towards this poem's title.
Paraphrase
Line 3 (Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; ) : Things will always fall apart and whatever is in the center cannot hold everything in place anymore.

Line 6 (The ceremony of innocence is drowned; ) : The world is not as innocent as it used to be anymore, because it is full of sin. Day by day the innocence we were born with is drowning with all the sin that we encounter, and feed into.

Line 9 Surely some revelation is at hand;) : A change is coming.

Lines 10 & 14 (Surely the Second Coming is at hand; A shape with lion body and the head of a man ) : Something/ someone is coming and they may be coming in both animal and human form.
