Characters: Good And Evil
Royalty And Poverty
What is a Fairytale
Good characters tend to be the ones who are innocent, intelligent, or kind. This character is usually the hero/heroine.
Evil characters are typically a magical being; for instance, a witch would be the evil character in Snow White. However, in other stories such as Cinderella, the evil character is the step-mother.
Along with royalty must come someone who is in poverty. Cinderella is a perfect example of the poor character. She is forced to work for her evil step-mother while her step-sisters enjoy their riches going to the King's ball.
In almost every fairy tale there will be a character that is royalty. In Rapunzel, the prince who comes to set Rapunzel free is the royalty.
The setting is usually in a castle, forest, or a town.
"A fairy tale is a fictional story that may feature folkloric characters (such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, witches, giants, and talking animals) and enchantments, often involving a far-fetched sequence of events"
witches, gnomes, fairies, spells, ect.
There is always a problem which must be solved.
In Sleeping Beauty, the problem was Princess Aurora needed a prince to kiss her to wake her from her sleep.
Now that we know what a fairy tale is and what the elements are, I want you to watch this video and find which elements are present that make this story a fairy tale.
Sometimes there will be a surprise ending, as there are in Grim stories when the fairy tales were more dark.
