The Little Mermaid for my sister
Transcript of The Little Mermaid for my sister
Is a very well known fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince.
The Little Mermaid
Who is Ariel ?
Ariel has a very distinctive appearance, with her long, flowing red hair, blue eyes, green tail and a lavender seashell bra. In the films and television series, she is the youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena of an underwater kingdom of Merfolk. She is often rebellious, and in the first film longs to be a part of the human world. She marries Prince Eric,
Atlantica is the central location for the popular Disney franchise The Little Mermaid. The kingdom is located beneath the Atlantic Ocean and is ruled by the sea king, King Triton. Atlantica's most famous resident is none other than King Triton's adventurous daughter Ariel and her best friend Flounder. These friends usually get Atlantica in hot water but cleans up the mess they sometimes start. The Kingdom was once ruled for a short time by the evil sea witch and former member of the royal court of King Triton, Ursula, who is now deceased.
Flounder is a bright yellow and golden blue colored tropical fish from The Little Mermaid. He is Ariel's best friend and, despite the name, he is not a flounder, but is a juvenile Atlantic blue tang.
Ariel's Secret Grotto is a special place where Ariel keeps her vast treasure trove of human objects, antiques, and artifacts that she has collected throughout her childhood. Each one has a special place in Ariel's heart.
It is a large cave that has a large round stone covering the entrance. Inside there are hollowed out shelves where she stores and displays her discoveries.
After finding unusual objects throughout exploring places like sunken ships, caves and even sometimes above the surface, she puts them in a small pink shoulder bag and takes them back to store in her grotto.
Ariel has collected many things, each representing a special memory, adventure, all to remember the good times. She calls them her gadgets, gizmos, whosits, wotsits and thingymebobs.
Despite being of royalty, Eric is an accomplished mariner who is often seen partaking in various duties aboard ships in his own fleet. Eric is a skilled helmsman as he is seen steering ships in both the 1989 film and its sequel. He even skewers through Ursula in a split-second hard turn in a derelict ship as well as assisting his crew members in storms. Prince Eric spends much of his free time out at sea, fishing. going on explorations, or celebrating his birthday. Grimsby, his servant and personal confidant, often accompanies him on his voyages and fell inlove with Ariel.
Sebastian is the king's royal court composer and holds a rather passionate love for music. While usually carefree, Sebastian is often seen to be very grumpy and worrisome. This is mostly due to Ariel's stubbornness who he is found with regularly. He is also prone to having panic attacks and fearing King Triton will murder him if he slips up on a task. Like the other sea inhabitants, Sebastian holds a great fear of the sea king King Triton. Despite the fear, he still shows great respect and they are obviously on good terms friendship wise. When scared, Sebastian's voice tends to become humorously higher in pitch. He can be sensitive at times about his size and the fact that his tiny arms prevents him from swimming as fast as Ariel and Flounder. This makes it difficult to tag along on adventures which is why he'll just grab onto Flounder's tail fin. Despite his size, the enemies of the kingdom, notably Ursula, still find Sebastian to be a big enough threat to foil their plans. Being part of the royal family, Sebastian is fairly intelligent and knows mostly all secrets of the sea, even more so than King Triton.
Ursula's fortress is the home of the evil seawitch, Ursula. After she was exiled from King Triton's palace, and consequently Atlantica, Ursula made herself at home in this location. The lair itself is a colossal skeleton of a beast known as the Serpentine. The gaping mouth serves as the main entrance, with an entry corridor, containing Ursula's garden of polyps, that leads to the main hall containing Ursula's cauldron, a vanity wardrobe, a cupboard for her ingredients, and a large conch that acts as Ursula's perch. Behind the conch is a small entryway to the back of Ursula's lair. And there are also a few holes in the roof that lead to the outside of the lair.
Ursula is a very dark and sinister villain. Aside from this, she has a large sense a humor. Ursula is very manipulative and has a talent of making great sense and making persuasive points when trying to strike a deal. Unlike many Disney Villains, Ursula puts her henchmen Flotsam and Jetsam before anything and everyone else. Ursula treats the eels like children and refer to them as "babies" or "poopsies".
Ursula's cauldron is where Ursula casts evil spells, creates illusions, and brews potions. The cauldron also enables Ursula Remote-Viewing via Flotsam and Jetsam's glowing yellow eyes to project images onto a crystal ball for Ursula to spy on others.
Flotsam and Jetsam
Flotsam and Jetsam are the first to notice Ariel's infatuation with the world above. Upon witnessing the mermaid fall in love with a human, Prince Eric, Ursula sends Flotsam and Jetsam to propose a deal to Ariel. In addition, in order to ensure that Ariel accept the proposal, they also made sure they visited Ariel while she was in a grief-stricken state, specifically after King Triton destroyed her grotto in rage, and also flicked a remain of Eric's statue at Ariel in case she attempted to refuse. In making sure that Ursula wins the deal, Flotsam and Jetsam sabotage what would have been a successful kiss between Ariel and Eric. In the climax, Flotsam and Jetsam are accidentally killed by the trident when Ariel grabs Ursula's hair just as the sea witch fires a killing shot intended for Eric. Flotsam and Jetsam are notable for their efficiency (which is something not to take lightly- usually- especially in Disney movies, the henchmen, are clumsy and botch up every plan). Until they were killed, they succeeded at every task Ursula gave them, and due to that, Ursula, shocked that she killed her eels, sadly mourns for them, right before turning her attention and rage towards Ariel and Eric
Ursula's garden is her collection of merfolk that hang around the entrance hall to her lair. Each one was once a mermaid/merman who came to Ursula for help in some matter, but couldn't afford her high demands, leaving them helpless before her power.
An area filled with small sunken ships. Ariel and Flounder visit the graveyard often searching for human things.
Andrina has a dark lavender tail, and wears a magenta seashell bra. She has hazel eyes and blonde hair that is fastened with a pink decoration that looks like a real ponytail. The prequel depicts Andrina as a person who loves to tease her other sisters. In various books, she is depicted as being very athletic, enjoying gymnastics and sports.
Attina is the daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena. She has an orange tail and wears an orange seashell bra. Her light brown hair is worn piled on top of her head, and she wears an orange five-pointed tiara similar to the golden one Triton wears. In some coloring pages, she sometimes wears hoop earrings on her ears. She is the eldest among her seven sisters.
King of Atlantica, who is backed by the power of his trident. He has forbidden Ariel to have any contact with outsiders, which only led to her yearn to grow even stronger.
