What is Global Warming?
a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally
attributed to the
greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide,
and other pollutants.

On Sunday, September 21, 2014 thousands of demonstrators marched through Manhattan, New York to alarm world leaders that will meet at a United Nations meeting later this week about climate change.
Demonstrators came all over the world to protest the "international inaction of global warming"
the demonstrators included Ban Ki-moon the UN secretary general, the Mayor of New York who said that he was "committing to an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2050."
more than 3 million people were at the march.
"Avaaz, a international advocacy group presented a petition with more than 2.1 million signatures on it demanding action on climate change."

we have to reduce our carbon footprint!

tell others that energy efficiency is good for you and the earth
There is still hope! We don't have to live in fear of what will happen to the if we do something about it NOW. We can still do our part in saving the earth, after all it is our only home.
Global Warming- Effects
on the world:
plants depend on a steady source of water and climate change will disrupt the supply of water through droughts and floods.
Places like Siberia could become productive in agriculture. But soil in the arctic is very poor, and it wouldn't receive any extra sunlight since its tilted.
Increased warming would have a greater effect on countries whose climate is already near or over the temperature limit, which means crops fail to grow. This is already happening in the sub-Sahara and the Tropics.
warmer winters would mean fewer deaths from the cold...but then they could die from the heat
mosquitoes and malaria will spread to places it hasn't been before.
The only positive to global warming: the opening of a year-round ice free Arctic passage between Atlantic and Pacific oceans would bring some commercial benefits.
the loss of polar bear habitats
the loss of ice would cause the ocean to absorb more heat...which would cause the Greenland ice cap to melt, but it would also cause the temperature of the Arctic Tundra to raise, and that would release methane (a very powerful greenhouse gas). It releases from the sea-bed where it is trapped in ice-crystals.
the melting of the Antarctic ice shelves won't have any benefits, it will add to the rise of sea-level, effecting US's eastern seaboard (New Jersey) and other islands around the world.
the rise of the earth's temperature would not positively effect the ocean's pH levels. Extra CO2 will be absorbed into the water-negatively effecting the entire oceanic food chain.
Bring absolutely no good to the earth
Will impact the millions of people who depend on fresh water by natural spring melt.
drinking water and agriculture may fail.
Sea levels rise:
Many parts of the world, like the US eastern seaboard for example are low-lying and will be affected by the rising sea.
Rice paddies are being flooded by salt water, destroying the crop and asian countries source of income.
Sea water is contaminating rivers, and polluting aquifers.

Economic impacts of climate change may be catastrophic.
developing countries will have to fight for water, energy sources, and food, which will be hard to grow.
climate change will cause a lot of problems, especially to countries least equipped to adapt economically or socially.
Humans are the biggest factor of global warming
If we fail to reduce global carbon emissions quickly, some economic effects include:
damage to property and infrastructure
mass migration and security threats
"Most countries benefitted from climate change until 1980, but after that the trend is negative for poor countries and positive for rich countries. The global average impact was positive in the 20th century. In the 21st century, impacts turn negative in most countries, rich and poor."
climate change will have a less and less of an annual economic effect until eventually it becomes a drag on the global economy.

Ironically, not everyone believes in global warming
Some countries don't want to even try helping, they're waiting for "benefits" global warming is going to bring
animals, especially those who live in on Antarctica, like polar bears, and penguins are loosing their habitats!
