Diagnostic Criteria
The DSM-5 defines Antisocial Personality Disorder as an individual having traits from both the “antagonism” domain (callousness, deceitfulness, manipulativeness, and Hostility) and the “disinhibition” domain (impulsivity, irresponsibility, and risk taking) in addition to both impaired self-functioning and impaired interpersonal functioning.
Specific Traits
More Callous
More planned out/less impulsive
More educated
Less likely to get caught
Statistics
Psychopaths are said to make up 1% of the population.
25% of male offenders in federal correctional facilities are psychopaths
Behavior
Both lack empathy.
Both demonstrate complete disregard to social rules and behavioral standards.
Both fail to feel any remorse or guilt.
Both can be violent.

DSM 5
Both are classified under Cluster B personality disorders.
Both Antisocial personality disorders
Mythology
Both appear in the Old Testament and in Greek and Roman Mythology as well.
One of Aristotle’s students, Theophrastus, was the first to write about them, calling them “the unscrupulous.”
Medea- She killed her own brother so her father would have to stop pursuing her and her husband to bury him while they escaped with the golden fleece.
Cain- He murdered his own brother due to overwhelming jealously and when questioned he simply responded im not my brothers keeper.

Statistics
3-5% of the population are believed to be Sociopaths
20% of incarcerated criminals show Sociopathic Tendencies, but more are believed to never be caught than are actually caught.
