He was an Italian painter, known as the best Venetian painter in the Bellini's
Considered to have revolutionized Venetian style painting moving it towards a more sensous and colouristic style
Some of his early influences were his father Jacopo Bellini, Mantegna, as wellas Byzantine art and Christianity
In his later life he was influenced heavily by Venetian style, Messina, and Northern Style
