WHY We Should Be Sharing the Gospel
The Great Commission
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you until the end of the age."
All about the Mission
He was Focused on Spiritual Matters
He was always about loving people
THEY WILL KNOW US
1 Corinthians 13:1
"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Jesus was Sent to Earth
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
-What makes you want to share the gospel?
-What does it take to share the gospel?
-What does it mean to "make disciples?"
What hinders us from making disciples?
There is GRACE to cover YOU
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—
and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
not by works, so that no one can boast.”
God's LOVE is not based on performance.
Salvation cannot be earned.
“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that
through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.
Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin,
a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.”
And by that will, we have been made holy through
the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
The gospel is simple to accept
It takes neither quest nor crusade
to accept the free gift of
salvation from Jesus Christ
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
The gospel is offered to all
Jesus offers salvation to people of every race, every tribe, every walk of life.
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings
salvation to everyone who believes
: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
The Gospel is a message of hope
The Gospel offers infinite joy, peace unknown, and life eternal.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you.
1 Peter 1:3-4
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
From "Multiply" by Francis Chan
The pastor is the equipper, and every member of the church is a minister.
Jesus commanded YOU to make disciples!
Jesus' commands don't come with exception clauses.
God made you the way you are; He has provided and will continue to provide you with everything you need to accomplish the task.
