MISD Building Your PLN What is a Social network ? Types of Social Networks Mobile Social Networks An online community of people with a common interest who use a Web site or other technologies to communicate with each other and share information, resources, etc Common Examples:

Social media sharing

Location based networking In the last few years, people have begun to use smartphones and tablets to access their social networks. Mobile social networking allows individuals with similar interests converse and connect with one another with their mobile phone or tablet. K 8c Blogs Blogs were one of the first forms of social media. Blogs are designed to allow easy content posting, commenting, and sharing. In a blog, any person can express his or her point of view and talk about many topics or ideas. Examples Blogger, WordPress, Type Pad. Popular Educational Blogs Social Networking Services These are the most populars social webs. These sites focus on facilitating the building of social networks or social relations between people who share interests, activities, or real-life connections. Can be focused on social or professional life. Examples Facebook
Google +,
Edmodo Social Media Sharing Social media sharing services are based around posting content such as videos and pictures, and sharing the content and commenting on it. These networks may include video, photos, and audio. Examples YouTube
Pinterest Social News Service Social News Services inform about the latest news about a lot of areas like sports, arts, music, fashion, medicine, politics, science. Most of these sites are online versions of a printed newspaper, a magazine or a TV news show. Examples Yahoo! News

Washington Post Location Based Networking Location Based Networks are services that help people explore their local area and share information about the traffic, restaurants, reviews of local businesses, etc. Lol Mensaje Subliminal uuuuuuuuu! Examples Waze
Loopt Social Networks in Smartphones and tablets Smartphones and tablets make the most of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Google +, etc. Using Social Networks to Build Your PLN Join or create an educational group on a site such as Edmodo or Facebook. Use a Social Networking Service to connect with other educators.
