Yak's wool
They only live in high altitude mountainous areas and wild Yaks are even rarer. Yak wool is a very high–performance material since it keeps the animal’s internal body temperature at 35 C when it is colder than -35 C outside.
Yak wool comes in 4 different natural colors-grey, brown, black and white. It averages 18-20 microns in diameter and ranges in length from 3to 3.5 centimeters. An adult yak can produce 2.5 kg of yak wool per year.
The Gobi’s best-kept secret processing technology allows us to produce camel wool fiber in three different colors – golden tan, light brown and russet.
One animal will produce 5 kilograms of wool per year which is enough for 3 to 5 sweaters.
Camel wool has a diameter of 21-25 microns and a length of 37 centimeters while baby camel wool averages 12.5 centimeters in length and 19- 24 microns in diameter.
Camel wool
Mongolian semi-domesticated goats are incredibly adapted to the fluctuating weather that they produce one of the finest and rarest cashmere. Climatic conditions forced the goats to involve into resilient survivors. Downy under fleeces, covered by rougher guard hair, of Mongolian goats provide warmth by trapping air inside tiny spaces within the fibers which is a perfect insulation from cold. Far from oceans, high in altitude and chilled by Siberian cold atmosphere from the north, Mongolia is dry and extremely cold during the winter. This harsh climate is the reason why the goats put on their finest natural coats known as cashmere.

In March when cold season is over goats shade their fleece. This is the time when Gobi's representatives journey through the vast landscapes to gather precious fibers from the local herder's During summer the herd moves around the land freely grazing the most fertile grasslands while being guarded by the nomadic herders of Mongolia. The pasture land itself is 100% natural and free of pesticides. Few months of warm season is crucial for the preparation for another tough winter ahead.
Endless plateaus
Eternal blue sky and Nomadic goats
Four earthy natural colors that separate classy from artificial
Mongolian goats are almost nineteen million in numbers and they contribute to 40% of the world cashmere supply. Yet the quality of the cashmere is so exclusive it is valued well above others. Undyed and unbleached cashmere fibers have four natural colors which are the colors of the Mongolian goats.
White , beige , warm grey and brown are the naturally occurring shades in Mongolian goats. Each color comes from different parts of the vast country and each other has a unique story behind it.
It is well-known that the Mongolian herders are deeply rooted to their ancient traditions. Gobi is always respectful of the various traditions when working with the nomadic herders in different part of Mongolia. This close relationship with the local herders that led to the gathering and processing one of the world's finest natural fibers.
After selecting required amount of only the best quality fibers, Gobi's representatives travel back to the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, with their precious cargos. When the raw cashmere fibers arrive in the Gobi factory, 1250 highly skilled employees receive them and begin to work their magic with them. Gobi is one of the five vertically integrated cashmere manufacturers in the world.
The fibers first go through sorting where some of the most skilled employees put rigorous effort on sorting the cashmere using their eyes and hands. Then the sorted fibers are washed to rid all impurities from them. Now the much cleaner cashmere fibers are dehaired in other to separate the greasy and coarse outer hairs from the fibers. Dehairing is a very delicate process. The factory needs to the kept in precise temperature and humidity to achieve optimum results.

Once first stages of processing are done the fibers go through various other stages.

3. Spinning
