Wilkinson agreed with Aaron Burr's idea on making a separate,independent territory along the Mississippi Valley
Zebulon Pike accompanied Wilkinson on his expedition
Pike and 22 unprepared men were sent off by Wilkinson to explore most of Arkansas and Mississippi
Look for the head waters of the Arkansas river
Obtain the return of some Osage captives
Make peace between the Osage and Kansas indians
And to establish dialogue with the comanche idian
