Diligent Dictionary Definition Dedicated to the task or characterized by hard work or earenst effort. Personal Definition someone who is hard-working and committed to a jod or task Scripture Hebrews 6:11 "And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end," Proverbs 21:5 "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty." 1 Timothy 4:15 "Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you." What it is not... Lazy Not willing to work Quotations Examples "To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent." John Quincy Adams "Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ador and attended to with diligence" Bill Hybels "Dignity does not float down from heaven it cannot be purchased nor manufactored. It is a reward reserved for those who labor with diligence." A student who completes their school work assigned by teachers on time and do not wait or procrastinate to do it. Parable of the Talents Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus tells a parable about a man who goes on a journey and leaves his three servants with different amounts of talents. Two of the servants go invest in the talents and double what their master gave them while the third buries it in the ground. The man tells the two servants, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness." He tells the third servant, "You lazy servant..." and he takes his talent and gives it to one of the other servants. This parable is used to show diligence of some people and laziness of others.
