Black Hawk War in 1832 Teen - Adult He first became
a lawyer Early Political Life More of his Political Life Lincoln was elected on March,4
1861and also re-elected in 1865. He was born in a log cabin in
Hodgenville, Kentucky. His Mother and Father were
Nancy and Thomas Lincoln Childhood When he was 2, he moved to Hob Creek, Kt He went to school rarely All of his family HATED slavery Abe moved to Indiana
at the age of 7 He Loved to read and write His mother died when he was 9 :( He was 21, and moved to Illinois He wanted to run for legislature to
rule against slavery.
He did this in 1834 at the age of 25 After he was a Representative,
he thought our country should
spend money on roads and train
tracks for travelers. Abe joined the
House of Representatives
in 1846 He ran for senator
but did not
get the job He called the USA a
house divided against itself because the north and south were almost separate because of slavery Lincoln then moved to
Washington, DC Abe was a very popular
Ohio and Indiana In his speeches,
he spoke out against
slavery. He married Mary Todd
on November 4, 1842. The civil war between the Northern US and Southern US started when Fort Sumpter was fired upon. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that led to the slaves freedom and also allowed blacks to be part of our army. He made the 13th Admendment,
which gave slaves freedom Presidency Death Homestead Act- Allowed poor
easterners to get land in west. Abraham Lincoln was shot
in the back of the head by
John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865
at 10:22p.m. National Baning Act- Established a national currency Lincoln made many speeches, one of his famous was the Gettysburg Address. He said that this war would test to see if we, as a country, could survive. He wrote many letters that are famous today. He died the next morning at 7:22a.m.
