July 12, 1997
Maulana Fazullah launches his radio program "Radio Mullah" in Swat. He wants to brainwash everyone in Swat and convince them into doing things that please him and the Taliban.
Major earthquake takes the lives of 70,000+ people in Pakistan. It rates as a 7.5 on the Richter Scale. Malala's town of Mingora was fairly okay, but areas close by such as Kashmir and northern Pakistan were left in ruins.

January 15, 2009
Fazlullah announces that all schools for girls in Swat must be shut down. Many take it as a joke in bad taste until bombings of the girl schools begin.

Floods in Pakistan kill over 20,000 people.

Malala is shot at point blank range in the head on her school van.

Malala is moved to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England for proper medical care.
