Although some of the music in this movie has a happy feel to it, the tone is very slow and it is noticeable that sadness and or doubting is present in the school of Hogwarts. When listening to the other music that is not happy, you can feel the death and darkness being portrayed that is leaking its way into the castle
Chamber of Secrets
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire
Hogwarts was founded in 990A.D by two witches and two wizards by the names of Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. when the school was first established each founder hand picked who would be accepted into their 'house'. Each founder was very particular about what kind of student should be excepted into the school, so when nearing death, the sorting hat was created to make sure that their wishes of the students who belonged in their houses, stayed that way.
We wish to show you what kind of transformations the school made throughout its history during the time of Harry Potter.
There are many references to what the actual building is like in the books written by J.K. Rowling, and the building(s) can also be viewed in the movies as well.
Order of the Pheonix
Half Blood Prince
In the Chamber of Secrets, the music portrayed symbolizes how majestic the castle is as well as the mystery surrounding the castle. This is because it is on the brink of closing and becoming a more dangereous place to all those that attend.
In the soundtrack of the Sorcerer's Stone, it is mainly heard as an up-beat and happy tune since it is the first year being introduced to Hogwarts, and it is full of new wonders unknown adventures to the students.
The Goblet of Fire songs have an eerie-like tone which eludes to the idea of not understanding what is going to happen while again including the sound of mystery that seems to always follow Hogwarts.
In The Order of the Phoenix soundtrack you can hear how fast things can change from a peaceful, more tranquil scene to a rising excitement that was heard only moments ago. All of this relates to the troubles that are happening within the school and the turmoil it possesses.
Media Portrayal of Hogwarts
This soundtrack portrays the closing of a lifetime within a school. The music is a solid blend of you wondering if there will be more of the school for you to explore or if it's truly end of your time spent at Hogwarts.
'Real-Life' Hogwarts Experience: Tourism
Harry's (and the other student's) Perspective(s)
Hogwarts will always be
Harry's perspectives are the perspective of a muggle, orphan, student, wizard, and protagonist.
Hogwarts is primarily represented as a home and new beginning to Harry. While in the muggle world, Harry felt as though nothing would make him feel like he would ever truly belong there. Because of his orphanage, he was picked on and made fun of, mainly by his cousin, Dudley. Once he becomes a student and wizard with great potential, many new experiences, relationships, and opportunities arise for Harry that never could have happened before attending Hogwarts. As the protagonist, we follow Harry through the stories and see Hogwarts through his eyes while it becomes a home, place of mystery, safe haven, place of competition, place of preparation, and finally, a battleground.
"Hogwarts will always be here to welcome you home"
- J.K. Rowling
In a conversation between J. K. Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe, Rowling briefly discussed Hogwarts. She said that the school had to be in an isolated place because of they were teaching something unknown to the world. She made Hogwarts a boarding school because children view boarding schools as a place of freedom from their parents. Rowling also mentioned that many fans expressed to her that they would attend Hogwarts, Radcliffe agreed with this. Rowling described Hogwarts as mysterious, exciting, spooky, and full of dark fantasy.
In the Prisoner of Azkaban's soundtrack, we start to see the power of music and how it grows darker, then once at Hogwarts it lightens, portaying that fact that it is seen as a safe haven in this part of the story.
Orlando Florida has created a Hogwarts world modeled after the beloved series of Harry Potter.
