By: Dustin Brennan Conflict Perspective in education Meritocracy Meritocracy Cont' De La Salle School desegregation The modern educational system directly reflects Conflict Perspective. Meritocracy is a society in which social status is based on ability and achievement. Most schools today are based on competition rather than academic work. School segregation is the achievement of a racial balance in the classroom. De La Salle directly reflects conflict perspective for many reasons. Examples are entrance exams, sports, and any other type of competition. A meritocracy has competition which a system in which rewards are based on relative performance. Some schools are viewed by how they do in sports. Most or all schools have at least one minority. THESIS In my opinion, DLS is a meritocracy. Your social status is based on how much you're involved in and how well you do in the activities you're in.
