Throughout our history, our primary focus has been on serving the poor by providing them with basic services that preserve their lives and their dignity while engaging in efforts to help them improve their lives.
Providing food, shelter and the tools to help the homeless in Chicago build a better life.
Franciscan Outreach Association was started in 1963 by Fr. Phillip Marquard when he opened a half-way house for ex-offenders. Since our founding, we have operated a wide variety of ministries that serve the poor and homeless in Chicago.
An emergency overnight shelter on West Harrison. Every night of the year, we accommodate 217 men and 40 women and provide guests with supper, breakfast, showers and visits by medical and mental health outreach workers.

We offer our services without regard to the religious affiliation of our guests and do not conduct any kind of religious services for them.
