Transcript of Communication

How to use it effectively
Written communication can be expressed in different ways. For example as an essay, a letter, or in an e-mail. Written communication also falls into 2 categories, formal or informal.
Verbal communication is a method of communication which relies on speech and hearing. This can also be referred to as oral communication.
Visual communication is way of expressing ideas through pictures or diagrams.
Types of visual communication:
After reviewing each of the different techniques it seems clear that the most effective way to deliver information is to use a combination of each type. For example when performing a speech it may be a good idea to hand out a written document with the points you are about to cover so they recall information in the future. It would also be beneficial to use a range of body gestures to make the performance more interesting and involving. However the ability to do this all relies on your own interpersonal skills.
Formal communication can be used to present information in a much more professional manner.
This form of communication is best used when talking to authorities or in important situations. Formal communication consists of properly pronouncing words and avoiding the use of slang terms.
Informal communication is much more commonly used in unofficial circumstances such as communicating with friends or family. However the informal style can be used to target a certain audience or convey a more relaxed atmosphere, an example of this may be the front page of a website aimed at teenagers.

Expressive communication can come in many varying forms such as dance or drama which have a big impact on the viewer. Body gestures also fall into this category but are usually used along side verbal communication
for a more

to convey
Using only dance or drama it may be difficult to portray a clear message to the audience, because of this expressive communication is best used in conjunction with other forms of communication such as verbal making it much easier to convey the intended point.
Expressive communication can also be much more subtle yet still have a large impact by simply using the correct body gestures at the right time, this makes makes a conversation seem much more lively and engages the viewer.

These are all skills that can be
worked on to improve and
would greatly increase the
effectiveness of
any dialogue.
Communication is a skill we all use everyday, it is the act of
transmitting information. This can be done via many different mediums
such as speech or visual aids.
Each more effective in specific situations. It is important to know when each form of communication should be used or avoided.
