Transcript of Codominance and Incomplete Dominance

New Types of Inheritance:
Codominance and Incomplete Dominance
Which is it - Incomplete Dominance or Codominance?
Incomplete Dominance
How can you tell if a trait shows incomplete dominance?
How can you tell if a trait is codominant?
A chicken with black feathers mates with a chicken with white feathers. What phenotype will their offspring be if this trait is controlled by codominance? Show a punnett square to support your answer.
In the cross below which color is dominant?
When one allele is dominant over another, it is expressed if present. This is traditional inheritance which Mendel studied.
Neither allele is dominant or recessive. This happens for heterozygous individuals and both alleles are shown.
Neither allele is dominant over the other. This happens in heterozygous individuals causing both alleles to blend.
A cat with black fur mates with a cat that has white fur. What phenotype will their offspring be if this trait shows incomplete dominance? Show a punnett square to support your answer.
